There will be no Baptisms during Lent (except in emergencies) You can download this brochure by clicking here Spanish version - please click here Baptism Classes are held every 1st Wednesday of the month at 7 PM in the Parish Office please check the bulletin in case of any changes in dates for classes–this is for PARENTS & SPONSORS ONLY. Please do not bring your children to the class. To have your child baptized, you must be a registered parishioner. Baptisms for English Masses are held every 4th Sunday of the Month after the 11:30 AM Mass, please check the bulletin in case of any changes in dates for baptism. There are no private Baptisms at OLA. Who needs to attend Baptism Classes? - Parents and Godparents. If Parents or Godparents live in another parish, they can attend classes in their own parish and send a letter stating that they have attended classes there. They should also send the required paperwork. Parents: Please bring to the office (before the baptism) - Child’s birth certificate or hospital record. - If married, bring a copy of your Church marriage certificate. Godparents: They are to help the parents of the child in their Christian duties; also be faith role models to their Godchild. Please bring to the office (before the baptism). If married, please provide a copy of your Church Marriage Certificate. If single, please provide a copy of your baptismal, 1st Communion and Confirmation certificates. If you do not have these certificate with you, call the Church of your baptism and request them. It is required that you present these certificates. Who can be a Godparent? (Code of Canon Law #872-874) - Only Practicing Catholics can be Godparents, this excludes anyone who is living together but not married in the Church. - One sponsor, male or female, is sufficient; but there may be two, one of each sex. - A Godparent must be no less than 16 years of age. - A Catholic who has been confirmed and has received the Holy Eucharist, and who lives a life of faith which befits the role to be undertaken. - Someone who is not excommunicated by the Church. - If married, they must be married in the Catholic Church. - Father or the mother of the child cannot be Godparents.
A baptized person who belongs to a non-catholic ecclesial community may be admitted only in company with a catholic sponsor, and then simply as a Christian witness to the baptism.

Se les pide que estén atentos al boletín por si hay cambios en fechas de clases. Para que puedan llevar a sus hijos a bautizar, es necesario que estén registrados en la parroquia. Bautismos para Misas en Español se llevan a cabo el 2do Domingo y el 4to Domingo del Mes después de la Misa de 1:30 p.m. Se les pide que estén atentos al boletín por si hay cambios en fechas de bautismos. No hay Bautismos privados. ¿Quién necesita asistir a las Clases? Papás y Padrinos. Si son miembros de otra parroquia, ellos pueden asistir a clases en su propia parroquia. Necesitan enviar un comprobante de pláticas y carta de permiso de su parroquia junto con los documentos requeridos. Si planean asistir a pláticas en esta parroquia, necesitan presentar su carta de permiso al momento de registrarse. Papás: Favor de traer a la oficina, (antes del bautismo): - El acta de nacimiento o registro del hospital del niño(a). - Si están casados, traigan su acta de matrimonio de la Iglesia. Padrinos: Deben ayudar a los papás en sus deberes Cristianos; también ser modelos en la fe para sus ahijados Favor de traer a la oficina, (antes del bautismo): Si son Casados/Viviendo Juntos: Favor de presentar su Acta de Matrimonio por la Iglesia. Solteros: Favor de presentar una copia de su acta de Bautismo, 1era Comunión y Confirmación. Si no tienen estos certificados, favor de llamar a su Iglesia de Bautismo y pedir una copia. Sí es necesario que presenten estos documentos. ¿Quién puede ser Padrino/Madrina? (Código de Derecho Canónico #872-874) - Solamente Católicos Practicantes pueden ser Padrinos. - Un solo padrino o madrina es suficiente; pero pueden tener dos, uno de cada sexo. - El padrino/madrina deben tener no menos de 16 años. - Ser un católico que ha sido confirmado y haya recibido la Sagrada Eucaristía, y que vive una vida de fe que beneficia la misión que va a asumir. - Que no esté excomulgado por la Iglesia. - Si están casados, deben estar casados en la Iglesia Católica.
Una persona bautizada que pertenezca a una comunidad eclesial no-católica puede ser admitido solamente en compañía de un padrino/madrina católico, y solamente será admitido como testigo Cristiano del bautismo. |
